Be Your Own Boss: The Two Steps BeforeZoran
I often found myself in a role of a person who encourages people to start their own business. Basically, all conversations and thinking start from an idea. Then people entangle themselves in seeking finances, starting up a business, setting up work, possible employment of staff, organizing the work, and of course there is sales, marketing, and God willing – managing the growth, etc.
However, there are two very important steps before any idea, before starting up your own business. We do not even think about them. Those two steps are crucial for our success and often we are not aware of them or we are not aware how important they are. I myself have realized it only recently after 13 years of entrepreneurship.
First of all, here are WE, our own mindset – how we think and what words we say to ourselves: do we think we are good enough, do we have any worth, and do we deserve success? Do we criticize ourselves constantly or do we praise and encourage ourselves? How much we value ourselves, how much we can relax and let it go, are we aware that nothing is personal, do we know how to reject criticism and how to learn from it, because criticism will come… There is a proverb: people will forgive you everything, but a success.
Before any ideas, the second key element are PEOPLE. Tell me who you hang out with and I will tell you who you are – it is a truth greater than we can comprehend. Imagine you have an idea and you go and share it with your friends and family. Comments? You are crazy, it is economy crisis, this will never work… Your reaction – doubt, giving up from your dreams…
That is why it is crucial to be around abnormal people, and when you tell them that you are expanding your business to Portugal, United States, New Zealand, they will say: great, bravo, how can I help? I know a person; I will connect you with him / her.
I write about networking all the time, so I will not do it now. However, if we were really aware how important it was, we would think ten times about every invitation for coffee, about our every minute – whom we spend time with and in what way, complaining, making up excuses or do we actively pursue our dreams? We can bring back anything in life, but not the time we have – that is why it is so important how we spend it and with whom.
I constantly remind people that we only live once, that is it, there is no repetition, and so if you have an idea, try to realize it, you will be sorry if you do not try it, but before you do, surround yourself with people who will support you. That is why I came up with the idea of Business Café, but find anywhere people who suit you and first empower yourself so you could be ready to enter the game we call market competition.
